Oregon Cheese Guild Conference and Meeting
For those Cheese Enthusiast readers in the great Northwest, we are pleased to announce the 2011 Oregon Cheese Guild conference and meeting. The conference will be held on January 22 and 23rd, at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

Food Safety Issues in the News: Cheesemakers Alert

Just as Cheese Enthusiast was about to wrap up this issue and go to layout, a series of articles in the New York Times and Los Angeles Times caught our attention and caused us to kind of “hold the presses.” The topic of these articles was food safety, including recent specific issues related to artisan and farmstead cheesemaking. As many of our readers know, “food safety” is a far more complicated topic than it appears.

Ok, when you stand on your front steps, what do you see? You’re gonna hate this—we have a lovely ocean and pastoral view. We can’t get to the ocean easily—there are cliffs on this side—but down to the cliff there are farms and pastures, so it’s quite a nice view.
Do Try This At Home
